The Waste RDI Roadmap aims to support skills development at a post-graduate level, through various instruments such as dedicated Masters and PhD scholarships, open and targeted grant calls, and SARChI Research Chairs.
Funding may also be made available to support post-graduate students undertaking one of the new post-graduate degrees in solid waste management, such as the MScEng Waste and Resource Management degree at the University of KwaZulu-Natal or the Masters in Environmental Management degree: Specialization Waste Management at North-West University.

Internships
The Roadmap also aims to support workplace experience through internships. Depending on the availability of funding, internships in waste management, hosted by Government, Science Councils, Research Institutions, Industry and Private Companies, may be made available.
