Grant holder: Prof H von Blottnitz
Institution: University of Cape Town
Duration: 1 January 2020 to 31 March 2022
Project outline: The objective of this project is to undertake a country-level material flow analysis (MFA) for South Africa, to establish the current level of materials circularity. This information will be used to identify possible areas of intervention in support of South Africa’s Circular Economy Agenda. The project also aims to build and strengthen capability in South Africa on MFA as a strategic tool identified under the Waste RDI Roadmap, and to produce scientific evidence in support of decision-making, policy development and implementation.
